Essential oils - To help you with your General Health

 


I bet you won’t believe this!  I didn’t when I first heard this, but diffusing essential oils may or can ease the symptoms of General health concerns like:  Cough, colds, stuffy nose, and allergies, along with help to prevent a lot of these symptoms.  A cough can be caused by many things, including the common cold, flu, or chest infection.  What essential oils may do is help soothe the throat, reduce inflammation and clear mucus.

Here are some individual essential oils that may help relieve some of the General health symptoms:

                         Eucalyptus oil - may reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and ease muscle 
                                                      tension

Peppermint oil - may soothe or numb a scratchy throat, also relax the 
                                                      bronchial muscles

Frankincense oil - may have an effect on the respiratory, and used to treat 
                                                         coughs, bronchitis, and asthma

Oregano oil - is an antimicrobial agent can fight off many types of germs, 
                                                 therefore treat viral or bacterial causes 

Thyme oil - may eliminate or protect against viruses and bacteria

Bergamot, nutmeg, and cypress oil - all have a similar compound as camphor, 
                                                      when inhaled may have a cooling, refreshing effect, also has 
                                                      antioxidant properties which may protect cells and ward off 
                                                      harmful germs  

Geranium oil - can have an effective herbal cough treatment

Cinnamon oil - may protect against germs that cause  respiratory problems

Tea tree oil - can inhibit the growth of bad bacteria that can cause sinus 
                                                 infections and respiratory issues and may treat coughs and 
                                                 colds which when inhaled may ease the effects of a cough



Here is more information about them oils, incase you want to know how they smell, and if you like making blends, what they mix well with:

                        Eucalyptus - has an aroma of Strong aromatic, camphoraceous.  It mixes well

                                                with Cedarwood, Cypress, Rosemary, and Thyme oils.


                        Peppermint - has an aroma of Fresh, strong mint. It mixes well with Eucalyptus,                                      Juniper Berry, Pine, and Rosemary oils.


                        Frankincense - has an aroma of Mild camphor and citrus.  It mixes well with Balsam 

                                                    Fir Needle, Myrrh, Orange, and Sandalwood oils.


                        Oregano - has an aroma of Spicy, camphoraceous.  It mixes well with Chamomile, 

                                            Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, and Spearmint oils.


Thyme, White - has an aroma of Pleasant, pungent. It mixes well with Basil, Lavender, 

                                                    Lemon, and Marjoram oils. 


Bergamot - has an aroma of Sweet, fruity.  It mixes well with Lavender, Nutmeg, 

                                             Citrus Oils. 


Nutmeg - has an aroma of Spicy, nutty, soft, sweet aroma.  It mixes well with Cinnamon, 

                                          Clove, Orange, and Vanilla oils.


                        Cypress - has an aroma of Sweet balsamic, warm tones of pine/juniper.   It mixes well 

                                           with Cedarwood, Citrus Oils, Clary Sage, and Ylang Ylang oils.


                        Geranium - has an aroma of Subtly sweet, floral.  It mixes well with Clary Sage, 

                                             Peppermint, and Rose oils.


                        Cinnamon - has an aroma of delicately fragrant, warm sweet flavor.  It mixes 

                                              well with Clove, Frankincense, Lavender, Lemon, Sweet Orange, Ylang Ylang, 

                                              Ginger, and Bergamot oils.


                        Tea Tree - has an aroma of Potent, warm, and spicy. It mixes well with  Basil, 

                                            Cypress, Eucalyptus, Lemon, Lavender, and Thyme oils.


Always remember essential oils can never take the place of a professional. With that being said, I’ll post another blog on Thursday where I will continue with diffusing essential oils blends that can help with General Health.
