Essential Oil Intro

Last year my daughter introduced me to essential oils.  I had heard of them before, but never had tried them.  My daughter had sent me a diffuser and a set of essential oils.  So being skeptical I tried it, and to my amazement it actually worked!  Since then I have bought several more oils and a second diffuser, so I could have them in different rooms. The oils I use are Essential Oils by Victsing, by Anjou, by Handcraft, by Oil of Youth, and by Mary Tyler Naturals.

A few facts about the essential oils, they are made from different parts of plants and then makers concentrate them into oils.  You can smell them, rub them on your skin, or add them to your bath.  I choose to smell them by diffusing them in water.

A diffuser like mine is called an Ultrasonic or Humidifying diffusers.  They use ultrasonic vibrations to break up molecules to create a fine mist. You will need to dilute the essential oil with water for the diffuser’s electronic frequencies to release the oil into a mist.

I’ve read and experienced physical and mental benefits from using essential oils in a diffuser.   It helps you to relax, by diffusing oils or blends of multiple oils while doing an activity that is calming.

    1) It promotes feelings of calm, when feeling stress or tension can help you to breathe deeply.

    2) It improves clarity and focus, when you're getting ready for the day.

    3) It can also make lifestyle changes easier,

by taking the place of doing something you want to change.

    4) It can boost your mood, and can have the effect of changing the mood.

    5) It helps to clear airways for easier breathing, to maintain the feeling of easy breathing while minimizing the effects of seasonal threats.

    6) Supporting a healthy digestive system offers a relief from stomach issues that range from feeling too full after a big meal to having a queasy stomach.

    7) Promotes healthy, healed skin. can lessen the effects of minor skin irritations and help reduce the appearance of skin imperfections and irritations. It also reduces the appearance of time on the skin, such as fine lines, patchy pigmentation, and loss of elasticity.

    8) Encourages better sleep.  You can use a calming scent in your oil diffuser before bed will help you relax and prepare you for a long night of deep rest.

    9) Can lessen muscle tension and soreness.  You're sore after a workout or feel stiff after a long day sitting at a desk, sit or lie down while you run your aroma diffuser and feel your body relax.

    10) Encourages healthy eating habits. Diffusing essential oils can help manage hunger cravings and promote healthy eating habits by boosting willpower and reducing the desire to snack between meals.

    11) Helps ease mood swings during hormonal times.  Diffusing essential oils can help you feel more balanced, especially during the often turbulent time surrounding the menstrual cycle.

    12) Improves circulation and drainage beneath the skin.  Can promote circulation, drainage, and elimination, which in turn can help improve the look of skin dimpling as well as dark marks from veins

    13) Minimizes the effects of seasonal conditions.  Encourages a healthy immune system and helps protect both you and your children from seasonal threats, especially during the winter.

Next I’ll list all the different oils at shows what they can be mixed with to give you certain effects: (homesick.com)

Here are a couple of blends I use regularly: (Now you might have to adjust depending on what the recommendation your diffuser gives you for the amount of drops to use. EX. my diffuser recommends around 20 drops, so I just increase the number of drops evenly to each oil to get as close to 20 drops in total)

* A Citrus blend
    Citrus Smile  -  2 drops Bergamot, 2 drops Lemon, 2 drops Orange

* An emotional blend for stress
    Chill Out - 3 drops Peppermint, 2 drops Grapefruit, 2 drops Rosemary

* An emotional blend for anxiety
    Blissful Mood - 4 drops Orange, 2 drops Lavender, 1 drop Ylang Ylang

* An emotional blend for focus
    Morning Meditation - 3 drops Bergamot, 2 drops Frankincense, 2 drops Orange

* An emotional blend for energy
    Re-Energize - 3 drops Grapefruit, 2 drops Peppermint, 1 drop Spearmint

* A sleep blend
    Sweet Dreams - 2 drops Lavender, 2 drops Sandalwood, 2 drops Chamomile, 2 drops Vetiver

So this is a little bit about essential oils and diffusing them, and a few of the blends I use and enjoy.  I’ll be bringing more blends that I’ve found and enjoy.  There will be different seasonal ones also.
