Even though you can put essential oils in your cleaning water, this blog is about cleaning the air plus disinfecting and or surfaces. It also helps promote clear breathing and healthy respiratory functions.
Essential oils don’t just smell good, they also have strong purification properties. By using the right essential oils, we can combat indoor pollution while reaping the therapeutic rewards of clean, fresh, and healthy air. There have been studies done that show certain essential oils contain antibacterial and/or antifungal properties.
Here is a list of the individual oils that can clean/disinfect the air and or surfaces and information pertaining to the oils:
Cinnamon - has an aroma of delicately fragrant, warm sweet flavor. It mixes well with Clove, Frankincense, Lavender, Lemon, Sweet Orange, Ylang Ylang, Ginger, and Bergamot oils.
Clove - has an aroma of Warm, pungent. It mixes well with Geranium, Ginger, Lavender, and Lemon oils.
Eucalyptus - has an aroma of Strong aromatic, camphoraceous. It mixes well with Cedarwood, Cypress, Rosemary, and Thyme oils.
Geranium - has an aroma of Subtly sweet, floral. It mixes well with Clary Sage, Peppermint, and Rose oils.
Grapefruit - has an aroma of Sweet, citrus. It mixes well with Bergamot, Eucalyptus, Lemon, and Thyme oils.
Lavender - has an aroma of Floral. It mixes well with Lemongrass, Peppermint, Marjoram, and Tea Tree oils.
Lemon - has an aroma of Fresh lemon peel. It mixes well with Chamomile, Eucalyptus, Frankincense, Lavender oils.
Oregano - has an aroma of Spicy, camphoraceous. It mixes well with Chamomile, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, and Spearmint oils.
Peppermint - has an aroma of Fresh, strong mint. It mixes well with Eucalyptus, Juniper Berry, Pine, Rosemary oils.
Rosemary - has an aroma of Warm, camphoraceous. It mixes well with Bergamot, Lemongrass, Peppermint, Thyme oils.
Tea Tree - has an aroma of Potent, warm, and spicy. It mixes well with Basil, Cypress, Eucalyptus, Lemon, Lavender, and Thyme oils.
Thyme, White - has an aroma of Pleasant, pungent. It mixes well with Basil, Lavender, Lemon, and Marjoram oils.
Remember if there isn’t a certain amount to use in the diffuser, just use the number of drops your diffuser recommends and add them to your diffuser.
Always remember essential oils can never take the experience a medical professional has. With that being said, I’ll see you on Thursday where I will continue with blends by diffusing essential oils from my little book of essential oil blends.
